Where to Donate Sports Equipment
There are many organizations available to which you can donate sports equipment.  Pass on your kids’ outgrown gear and other items you no longer use and help someone else enjoy the benefits of sport.

Here is a sampling of organizations that accept donations of sports equipment. 
This organization collects bicycles, parts, and tools and distribute them in developing countries where they provide important transportation for children and adults.  Check their website for drop off locations and scheduled collections.   ​
Let's Play It Forward is a non-profit organization started by a group of teens in Westchester, New York. They collect used sports equipment to distribute to children and organizations in need. To make a donation, contact them at the email address on their donation page. There you will also find a list of items they need and items they can't use.

​NOTE: When I last checked on June 4, 2021, Let's Play It Forward lacked the storage space to continue to accept physical donations. You can, however, team up with them on a service project to get sports equipment into the hands of those who need it. ​

Leveling the Playing Field

Located in Silver Springs, Maryland, Leveling the Playing Field donates sports equipment to youth sports programs with the goal of helping them lower operating costs. Lower operating costs means lower fees, thus making participation possible for more children. Donate at their warehouse in Maryland or at a satellite site in Chantilly, Virginia. You'll find the information on making donations at the bottom of the page (link provided above).

One World Running

One World Running promotes fitness and health through the distribution of running shoes to those in need in the United States and around the world.  They accept donations of new and used running shoes.  See their list of drop-off locations or mail your donation to the address on their website.   ​
Peace Passers collects soccer balls, jerseys, shorts, cleats/turfs & socks and distributes them to children around the world.
And One Sports is a student-led endeavor with the goal of giving all kids access to youth sports. They partner with Title 1 schools as well as non-profit and global organizations through fundraisers, equipment drives, and coaching programs. They are based in La Canda, California and have donation drop off locations in La Canda, Monclair, Villa Park, and Apple Valley. If you live outside southern California, you can mail donations to the address provided on their website. All kinds of sports equipment are needed and appreciated, particularly basketballs, bags, shoes, clothes. 
Vietnam Veterans of America collects used sports equipment to benefit America's veterans and their families. To make a donation click the 'Schedule a Pickup' button. You'll need to provide your name and email address for them to contact you about picking up your donation. Free pickups can be scheduled in 13 states. See this map for areas they service. 
When you share the gift of sport you’re giving fun, friends, and good health all at the same time.  In addition, sports teach cooperation and problem solving, and they promote self-esteem.

Donate sports equipment to a good cause and enjoy knowing that you’ve put a smile on someone else’s face!
