Organization and decluttering are among the most popular New Year's resolutions made each year, and with good reason. Clutter is the enemy of us all, and keeping it under control is a constant struggle. Join me in a Declutter Challenge and start the new year off right. Our goal will be to get rid of 100 things in 100 days! Sound impossible? It's easier than you might think. The secret is a systematic approach to decluttering. Here's how it works:
The Challenge
Starting January 1st, we will purge one type of item each day for 100 days. This will take us all the way through Tuesday, April 10th.
Doing just a little every day can yield impressive results in time. You may have observed that New Year's resolutions are often abandoned long before April. That's where our challenge comes in. It will help us stay on track and see things through...together!
Some of the items on the list may be things you don't own. On days when that is the case, you can either take a break, work ahead, or catch up on days when you were too busy to do the daily challenge.
If the hectic pace of life prevents you from doing something every day, you can always double up days when you have a little more time. Many of the items will take 10 minutes or less to sort through and purge.
If you find yourself getting behind, don't give up. Just keep working at your own pace, using the challenge chart as a guide. Even if it takes you all year to work through the 100 items on the list, you will have succeeded and met a worthwhile goal. Finally, if you stumble across our challenge part way through, please join in! You can pick up with us wherever we are or start from the beginning, whichever works best for you.
NOTE: This challenge was envisioned as a New Year's project, but it can be accomplished at any time of the year. Simply decide on a start date and set to work!
