My Story

I’ve always loved to organize things. Even as a child my idea of fun was spending the afternoon rearranging the bookshelf, organizing the contents of the cupboards, or sorting through papers and memorabilia to create a system of some sort.

As an adult, life has provided me with ample opportunities to hone my organizational skills. Our many moves as a military family have taught me the value of purging and given me countess experiences creating solutions to the various organizational challenges that arise as a natural part of the relocation process. As a mom, I’m also well acquainted with the never-ending challenge of keeping clutter and chaos at bay while striving for balance in a busy life.

After 20+ years volunteering my services as an organizer to friends, family and various charitable organizations I decided I wanted to be a professional organizer. The more opportunities I have to help people transform their space and their lives, the more committed I am to that decision.

3 Things I'd Like You to Know about Me

  1. As an organizer I am dedicated to the conviction that organization has the power to transform people’s lives by reducing stress, increasing productivity, improving peace of mind and nurturing a sense of empowerment.
  2. While it may be true that organization does not come naturally to everyone, I firmly and passionately believe that organization is a skill that anyone can learn. It just takes a little time, a little determination and a little patience. I call my business Step-by-Step Design because the best way to become organized is to take it a step at a time, working in manageable chunks. Over time, this method yields impressive results.
  3. As an organizer I believe I have a responsibility not only to help people organize their space, but also to become more organized through one on one instruction in basic principles of organization.  I strive to help my clients maintain the order we create together through the development of individualized systems designed to meet their personal needs.
