I’ve always loved to organize things. Even as a child my idea of fun was spending the afternoon organizing the bookshelf, cleaning out the cupboards or sorting through papers and memorabilia to create a system of some sort.
As a military spouse I’ve made 16 moves to seven states and three countries.
This has taught me the value of purging. it's also given me ample opportunity to hone my organizational skills by forcing me to develop creative solutions to the various organizational challenges that arise any time you move. As a mother of four, I’m also well acquainted with how challenging it can be to keep clutter and chaos at bay in a busy life.
I’ve spent 20+
years volunteering my services as an organizer to friends, family and various
charitable organizations before deciding that I wanted to be a professional organizer. In recent years
I’ve earned a Residential Planning certificate from the Art Institute of
Pittsburgh and become certified as an interior decorator and an Advanced
International Organizing Professional (AIOP).
Organization is a skill that anyone can learn. It just takes a little time, a little determination and a little patience. I call my business Step-by-Step Design because I believe the best way to become organized is to take it a step at a time, working in manageable chunks. Over time, this method yields big results.
Step-by-Step Design operates on the understanding that organization has the power to transform people’s lives by reducing stress, increasing productivity, improving peace of mind and nurturing a sense of empowerment.
As an organizer I believe I have a responsibility not only to help people organize their homes, but more importantly to help them become more organized long term through one on one instruction in basic principles of organization and to help them maintain the order we create together through the development of individualized systems designed to meet their personal needs.
This website is meant to be much more than a storefront. It’s meant to offer practical, useful tips and information on getting and staying organized and to demonstrate what we can achieve together.
Thanks for visiting. Come back often.
